Main Purpose of the Role

The RAG Secretary is a part-time, voluntary, elected student representative who will support the RAG Chair in developing, organising, publicising and delivering on all RAG activities throughout the year, including RAG week.

As the Students’ Union RAG Secretary, you will:

  • Be an Ambassador for the Students’ Union, safeguarding its good name and values
  • Be a member of the Students’ Union Executive Committee, attending all meetings, holding the President to account, advocating on behalf of all matters related to RAG
  • Coordinate regular RAG Committee meetings (3 times per year) and be responsible for ensuring accurate minutes are taken from all RAG meetings, ensuring that copies are circulated as appropriate
  • Liaise with the Sabbatical Officers, Union staff and RAG Secretary to identify suitable RAG Charities, where the final decisions will be decided by a student vote
  • Work with the RAG Chair and to provide a full RAG calendar of events in a timely manner
  • Partner with the RAG Chair, President, Vice President, Entertainments Officer, and other officers to organise and coordinate RAG Week events and other student fundraising activities throughout the year
  • Promote RAG Week and its programme of fundraising activities via social media and other relevant channels
  • Ensure all communication with RAG charities and supporters is efficient, prompt and professional.
  • Be the main contact between RAG and its nominated charity partners
  • Encourage new events to support your fundraising during RAG Week and throughout the year and work
  • Actively encourage feedback and idea from students around RAG activities
  • Ensure a commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion across all Students’ Union activities
  • Provide student representation on University committees as required
  • Work closely with the Students’ Union staff and the elected officers to support the effective management of the Students’ Union
