RAUSU President 2024/25 - Alexandra Godfrey

  1. Culture, Heritage & Identity

If elected, I will encourage the university to support us in being our authentic selves. We should celebrate all the things that we love about being part of the RAU community, and, importantly, feel supported and uplifted by our university. I would like to see the RAU as a university that recognises and celebrates our unique student culture.

  1. Feedback Loop & Student Voice

I will proactively seek feedback and direction from students, to ensure SU efforts align closely with student needs and wants. Throughout my term, I will ensure students are aware of what myself, and the SU Executive are working on and achieving.

As your president, I will ensure high quality, detailed feedback is provided via a range of methods to relevant university staff to ensure we see action where needed.

  1. Entertainment

I will work with the VP Leisure to listen to the student body to arrange a relevant, diverse entertainments calendar with something for all. I will support this officer with the planning and execution, and ensure students are aware of the calendar in good time. I would like to utilise my healthy working relationships with the Commercial Services team to ensure student wishes are understood and prioritised.

  1. Academic Experience

I will continue my efforts to ensure students receive the highest quality academic experience. I would like to see further improvement in all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment, building on progress I made this academic year. We all pay tuition fees – I want to make sure the university is delivering their side of the bargain!

  1. SU Strategy

I will continue to refine, support and deliver the long-term goals and strategy of your Students’ Union. I would like to leave the SU team feeling supported, empowered and established to ensure long term success.

Why me?

If elected, Presidency would be my third year on the Students’ Union, after filling both ‘Welfare & Liberational Campaigns’ and ‘Vice President – Learning’ roles previously. I have extensive knowledge of university policy/procedure and have worked hard to engage with almost every member of staff at our university, from Pro-Vice Chancellors and Academics, to Housekeeping and IT. I also currently sit on the majority of university committees, delivering high quality feedback and lobbying for student needs/wants, whilst continuously developing these healthy working relationships.

In light of my experience and expertise, I believe I am the best person to deliver as your SU President for 24/25 – #voteALG!

Emily Mackie

President

Hi everyone, my name is Emily and I am running to be your SU President for the next academic year. Last year I was RAG Secretary and had a great time planning RAG and different events throughout the year! Therefore, I already understand the way this university works and how to get things done within the complicated systems. This year I have been running the Agrics society putting on events such as Take Me Out and Bingo Lingo which students have really enjoyed.

Fun and affordable balls, looking into the infrastructre behind our balls to see where we can save money to bring down ticket prices like the Agrics society has been able to this years with recent events such as take me out!

Open door policy, come to me with your problems so I know where a solution is needed! I am approachable with experience with helping people in different situations.

Apply the principle of good old fashioned fun to all SU events to ensure everyone gets the most out of their time whilst at uni.

Encourage sports and societies socials so everyone can have ciren their way. Encourage sports and society take overs in Tithe to provide additional funding towards budgets. Something I have experience with organising with RAG in the past.

Holding the university accountable for how courses are run and delivered. Ensuring clear communication between lecturers and students and helping to ensure teaching is delivered to a high standard. From my own personal experience of raising issues within the university I know the people to speak to in order to ensure changes without too many disruptions.

Thank you for considering voting for me!
