I’ve decided to run because I care about The RAU – what it is, and what it could be. We’re a small university, and that should be our strength. We have the chance to build a strong, supportive and well-connected student community through the Students’ Union. I believe the RAU should feel like the place to be for agriculture, land-based, heritage and environmental students. That means improving the day-to-day experience, making sure people feel included, and creating more opportunities beyond lectures. University should be more than just a degree; it should be something you enjoy being part of.
Students need someone who will not only represent them, but also deliver. My agricultural background, alongside community work, has built strong communication skills, with a focus on listening, clarity and achieving real outcomes. I’m approachable, organised and willing to take responsibility. Having studied in a variety of formats, including at postgraduate level, I understand students engage with university differently. Some want a full social experience, others prefer quieter or more flexible opportunities – all are valid and should be supported. I’m confident challenging where needed, always constructively, and focused on turning ideas into practical improvements that make a real difference.
Vote for someone who genuinely cares – someone who will listen, act and follow things through. I will ensure the student voice is heard, building on what’s already working and fixing what isn’t. That includes improving everyday things like food and facilities, while developing clearer communication, a platform for societies, increasing opportunities, and introducing more varied events, including for postgraduates. The aim is to make life at The RAU more connected, inclusive and enjoyable, forging a stronger sense of community across the university. The RAU has huge potential, and I want to help make it somewhere people feel proud to be.
This is about making The RAU feel like a community all year round, not just during Freshers or big events. That means better connections between courses, stronger links with the wider community and similar universities, and more opportunities to get involved. We should make the most of the student experience! Protecting what makes The RAU unique also matters – our history, our campus and our identity. We have a strong heritage, particularly in agriculture and land-based studies. Let’s build on that and make The RAU stand out for all the right reasons.
