No, once you have submitted your nomination form, it will be reviewed by the Deputy Returning Officer who will determine your eligibility to stand in the election.

Can anyone stand for President?

All current RAU students, including undergraduates and postgraduates, are able to nominate themselves. The role is a full time, paid role starting in July 2026 so you will need to have finished your course or be prepared to take a year out of your studies to take up the position.

When can I start campaigning?

You can only publicly declare you are a candidate and can only start campaigning once your nomination has been confirmed, you have attended a compulsory candidate briefing and candidates have been announced by the Students' Union
